EthnoGuessr is a daily geography game that turns human diversity into a quiz. The browser-based experience, hosted at hbd.gg, shows players facial composites of ethnic groups from around the world and asks them to drop a marker on a map to guess the group’s geographic origin. Each round combines observation, intuition, and a little geography to score points based on how close the guess lands to the real answer.

The product offers several distinct modes so players can switch between curiosities. Classic mode shows averaged faces of well-known ethnic groups and challenges visitors to place them on the map. World Cup mode flips the idea toward sports, presenting one averaged face per national team and asking players to identify the country. Genomes mode is a newer, more personal addition that shows real photos and asks players to guess the AncestryDNA-style regional breakdown of the subject. DoggoGuessr keeps the same mechanic alive for dog breeds.

Daily challenges anchor the experience. A new set of faces appears each day, encouraging repeat visits and friendly competition through a public leaderboard. Players who want more flexibility can browse the full library, while those curious about their own heritage can upload AncestryDNA results and a photo to appear in Genomes mode for other players to guess. An account system unlocks the leaderboard, the submission flow, and the option to track progress over time.

EthnoGuessr is built as a lightweight web app. There is nothing to install and the maps, photo composites, and scoring run directly in the browser. The interface explains how each round works in three steps, study the facial composite, place a marker, and learn about the group after the answer reveals itself.
