A small utility for a recurring interface task: getting the right icon for a website card, bookmark list or dashboard. Paste the site URL into FaviconDL to retrieve and download its favicon.
For developers, the public API works without an API key and can return an image or JSON metadata. The repository includes a local stdio MCP wrapper with an extract_favicon tool, so a configured Agent can request website icons as part of its workflow. It is a local wrapper, not a hosted remote MCP server.
The service retrieves existing website icons; it does not generate new images. The web utility and public API are free.
