I am Julian Tao, the individual founder and maker of ShortTranscript.
ShortTranscript is a web service for reviewing what was said in authorized public Instagram Reels, TikTok videos and recorded Facebook videos. Paste a supported link, review the timestamped English text against the audio, edit any recognition errors, then copy or export it.
Guests can try up to three successful transcripts per day, up to five minutes each, without signup. Copy and TXT export are free. SRT, VTT and DOCX exports require credits, with one credit per started minute. Recognition uses a cloud speech service.
English is the verified language. Private videos, Instagram Stories and translation are not supported. Recorded Facebook videos require a full permalink. Users must own the content or have permission to process it.
The product uses Go, SQLite and server-rendered HTML on our own server. It is designed as a small, focused service for creators and independent makers who want a transcript they can inspect and edit.
