Still-life shots hide lighting mistakes that portraits would make obvious. A 60-centimeter mug on a table is not lit by a two-meter softbox the way a person is. White bounce cards pick up studio dust and turn shadows green. Contact shadows often vanish, so the object floats a millimeter above the cloth.
