Ugly Avatar
Ugly Avatar is a free browser-based generator for people who prefer memorable, imperfect profile pictures over polished corporate headshots. The tool presents a gallery of 48 procedurally drawn faces, each filled with intentionally awkward details such as crooked outlines, mismatched eyes, unruly hair, and expressive features. Instead of asking you to upload a photo or work through a complicated editor, it lets you browse the collection, choose a portrait, and download it as a crisp 1024×1024 PNG.
Every face begins with a deterministic seed. That means the seed consistently produces the same character while the procedural drawing system bends the facial contour, eyes, nose, mouth, and hair into a distinctive composition. If the current selection is not strange enough, the “Make 48 new faces” option generates another full gallery to explore. The result is a quick, playful process that requires no account, signup, design experience, or personal image upload.
Ugly Avatar works especially well for social profiles, community identities, forum accounts, gaming handles, chat groups, experimental projects, and any context where a conventional avatar feels too generic. The rough hand-drawn style gives each portrait personality without requiring users to reveal their real appearance.
The project is inspired by the open-source txstc55/ugly-avatar work and uses an independently built procedural drawing implementation. It is available directly on the web for free, making it an accessible choice for anyone who wants a weird, repeatable, downloadable avatar in only a few clicks.
