All the hype, the backstories, the interviews—they fade away when it’s just a fighter and the number on the scale. And for White vs Romero, that moment hit hard: two seasoned warriors locked in, no more talk—just proof that they’re ready to fight. And in Hanover, Maryland on Friday, both Jordan White and Jose Matias Romero hit that number: 129 pounds on the dot. Right on the junior lightweight limit. No drama, no stalling. Just business. With that, it’s official—White vs. Romero is a go for Saturday night’s ProBox TV main event. Ten rounds. Two careers colliding. And a whole lot to prove.White, a 27-year-old from Washington D.C., suffered his lone loss in 2017 to Adam Lopez and has since won 14 straight. Matias, meanwhile, has more blemishes on his record but is also more proven, having tested himself against world-class fighters like Robeisy Ramirez, Michel Rivera and Isaac Cruz.In fact, in Matias White will meet perhaps the most battle-hardened opponent of his career so far. Still, White feels that his deep amateur background makes him Matias' equal in experience.“Just because he’s been in there with a couple of guys with known names, it doesn’t scare me, it doesn’t make me feel like he’s more experienced than me.He has some exposure but I feel like I’m very experienced. I’m a nine-time national champion, over 170 fights, I fought almost all the styles,” said White. In the co-main event, heavyweights Stephan Shaw and Raphael Akpejiori will face off in a ten-round bout. Shaw, 20-2 (15 KOs), of St. Louis came in at 238lbs, while Akpejiori, 18-1 (17 KOs), a native of Lagos, Nigeria now living in Miami, came in at 269.8lbs.Shaw, 32, has won two straight since suffering back-to-back losses to Efe Ajagba and Joseph Goodall in 2023, while Akpejiori, 34, has won three straight since his second round stoppage to Arslanbek Makhmudov in July of 2023.At 27 years old, the Washington D.C. native walks into this fight with an 18-1 record and 12 knockouts. That lone loss? All the way back in 2017 against Adam Lopez. Since then, he hasn’t just bounced back—he’s turned into a machine.Fourteen straight wins. Power, confidence, and the kind of composure you only earn from learning the hard way.
